The Pitch Desicion

Our first pitch idea: A young woman moves into her new home, but what she does not know, is that she is not alone.

Our second pitch idea: A male recently diagnosed with a terminal disease, find reason to keep living. His Nurse gives him hope through love, However, time is ticking.

The first pitch explanation – We are interested in the first pitch because the concept itself is remarkably interesting. When hearing about the project, we all first went to this idea. There are also certain circumstances that make this filming easy. It would be shot in a new home, which one member of the group is moving into a new home. We all discussed our roles in this film, which makes us more interested in acting in it.

The second pitch explanation - We are interested in the second pitch because there are so many ways this story can be portrayed. This idea has several ways it can be executed. We have decided that it would be more difficult to film this story. When telling a story about a nurse and a patient, it would make sense that it would be shot in a hospital. We do not have access to a hospital to film, thus making this pitch inconvenient for us. A male is also needed to make this film.

We decided to choose the first pitch because we prefer this pitch, and it is easier and more convenient to film. This pitch allows us to film at Natalia’s house, which would fit perfectly for this idea.

Short Film Research: Party to Murder

The mystery short film I watched was Party to Murder by Strobie Studios. The actors gathered together at this old style mansion to play a game of murder mystery while at a masked party. Will they play a harmless game or is the reality of death knocking on their front door? The director included a plot twist which is what ultimately made the short film a good watch. At the beginning of the film the director used upbeat music and close up angles of a couple dressed in fancy attire. The upbeat music explained the mood of the couple, as they were laughing and excited for their upcoming party. However as the car approached the home the music took a turn for the dark. The music began to speed up and the musical notes selection became very ominous. A big tactic used in mysteries especially murder mysteries in plot twists. Plot twists leave the audience highly surprised making it the best way to recapture a viewer's attention. Nobody wants to sit through a movie where every scene is easi...

Short vs. full length film research

BLOG 1: Comparing 9, the short film, and the full-length movie  Hey Blogg, our group will be discussing the short version of the film "9" and the full-length version along with comparing both of them.  Short film version: None of our group members had ever seen this movie and seeing it for the first time it was different, unlike something we had ever seen before. First off, there was no dialogue throughout the whole film. This causes us to pay even more attention to what was happening throughout the film to better understand what was going on. For this specific short film, the plot was less obvious and required higher thinking skills as all that is given are the scenes. We understood the plot at the nearing the end of the movie. Our interpretation of the plot was that in a desolate setting that looked like a landfill site, the film begins with scenes of 9 crafting objects from scrap metal. As the title screen fades, 9 is found sitting around the remnants of a broken w...

My Critical Reflection

Critical Reflection Link Critical Reflection A level Media Studies How do your products represent social groups or issues? My short film, Shattered Bonds, represents the major issue of mental health struggles that follow being left out in relationships and friendships, that so many people suffer from in the real world. The film highlights the idea that when you feel a sense of hurt in a relationship/friendship it can cause a mental trigger for coping mechanisms such as violence or self harm. Shattered bonds brings awareness to this through the plot. Throughout the film, there are scenes showing one of the teenage girls being left out of the group and feeling a sense of hurt in the fact that nobody is including her in their conversation or activities. These feelings of hurt then revolve into resentment in the film as they do in the real world. These feelings can lead to violence against others as well as self harm. In the film, the girl being left out resorts to killing the girl t...
