Production blog- Figuring everything out

Hello and welcome back blog!! I wanted to say that me and my group have been communicating very well and getting things organized and put together quickly. As I predicted in the beginning of the year, I knew this group would be able to work together well. Everyone has been communicating and expressing their opinions and really helping out on all aspects of creating this short film. So far, filming has been great. Everything has been very fun and me and my group have been enjoying filming and really bringing the short film to life. I am looking forward to the next day me and my group have to film. Next time, filming is going to include visiting a small elementary close to jenna’s house. The plan is that Jenna is going to drive Carleigh, Sofia, and I from her house to the elementary. When we arrive there, the plan is to film near the entrance of the school or more towards a parking lot in some scenes. We are planning to be there for about 30-45 minutes to get a couple scenes there and then head back over to Jenna’s. Then once the sun sets and it is dark out, the plan is to film the flashbacks in the short film. These scenes would be me killing jenna in the short film as well as a funeral flashback. One thing my group still needs to figure out is where we are going to find a grave. The group and I have not decided if we would want to go to a cemetery because we all believe that it would be a little disrespectful to film on a random persons grave. The scene would be putting a flower on a grave being Jenna’s grave, (Olivia in the short film), but the problem with that is we do not want to go to a real cemetery to do this because it feels a little disrespectful. The group and I have not fully decided where we are going to film the funeral scenes. There is no set date to when we are filming yet either but it will probably be on a weekday after school where we will have some sunlight to go to the elementary. Then we would go back to Jenna’s till dark to film flashback scenes. It is a little difficult to come up with another filming date only because of everyones busy life. This week i have work on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday and my hours are not flexible at all. Working 9am to 5pm does not allow much time to film or really do anything with the rest of the day. I will keep you updated when there is a new filming date. I need to pick some more outfits to change into as well as prepare a couple props for the flashbacks as well as school scenes. Till next time blog. Always great talking to you.

Production Blog- The Final Stretch!

Hello and welcome back blog. It is the final stretch and the complete process of making this short film is now coming to a close. It is a sad realization but at the same time I am so beyond proud of how hard me and my group worked and well as all the time and effort we put into this short film. The group finished filming and now the process of editing has begun. It took three full days of filming in order to get all the scenes for the short film. When Jenna put most of the scenes together in imovie, it came out to be a six minute film. There was so many scenes that needed to be cut out and shortened that she is still working to shorten it as we speak. We used the time in class to brainstorm different sounds that should be used throughout the short film. It was pretty difficult coming up with sounds to use because nothing truly fit the scenes to perfection. While coming up with that, I had a classmate named Jack peer review the short film. At this point the short film was no where near ...

My Critical Reflection

Critical Reflection Link Critical Reflection A level Media Studies How do your products represent social groups or issues? My short film, Shattered Bonds, represents the major issue of mental health struggles that follow being left out in relationships and friendships, that so many people suffer from in the real world. The film highlights the idea that when you feel a sense of hurt in a relationship/friendship it can cause a mental trigger for coping mechanisms such as violence or self harm. Shattered bonds brings awareness to this through the plot. Throughout the film, there are scenes showing one of the teenage girls being left out of the group and feeling a sense of hurt in the fact that nobody is including her in their conversation or activities. These feelings of hurt then revolve into resentment in the film as they do in the real world. These feelings can lead to violence against others as well as self harm. In the film, the girl being left out resorts to killing the girl t...
