Production Blog

Hello again! For this Dunkin' Donuts commercial, I was one of the actors along with Omnia and Marlo. Harley was the Director and Videographer. My role in this commercial was the main characters, Omnia, sister. In the commercial our alarm went off and Omnia woke up, turned it off, and went back to sleep causing both me and her to oversleep and be late for school. It was pretty easy to act out sleeping but it was hard to keep a straight face having to act out snoring. Marlo, the mom, came in to wake me and omnia up because we were late for school. In the commercial, Omnia and I had to act tired and miserable and at the same time move quickly because were "late" to school. The major transition to show that Dunkin' kept me going was when we had to take a bite of the donut and a sip of the coffee. Omnia and I created the idea for a transition to show us in our pajamas looking terrible and then when ate Dunkin' products, right away were dressed and ready for the day to show America runs on Dunkin. The dramatic acting in this commercial was to try to really sell the idea that Dunkin' Donuts is the superior brand to other major companies like Starbucks. I think that all the acting in this commercial is able to compliment the overall purpose of the commercial. Although Harley was not in the commercial, they played a very important role in filming and directing most of the shots taken for this commercial. This commercial was overall very fun to make because it required my group mates and I to put our heads together and think about what would look good for this commercial and all the little details put into the commercial. The production of this commercial has definitely caused my group mates and I to become a lot closer. In producing this commercial, it has led for my group mates and I to be able to learn each other thought processes and see who thinks alike and who comes up with things that would not be considered by others. Overall, the production of this commercial was a success and I am glad for my group members and proud of the work we have put in. Till next time.

My Critical Reflection

Critical Reflection Link Critical Reflection A level Media Studies How do your products represent social groups or issues? My short film, Shattered Bonds, represents the major issue of mental health struggles that follow being left out in relationships and friendships, that so many people suffer from in the real world. The film highlights the idea that when you feel a sense of hurt in a relationship/friendship it can cause a mental trigger for coping mechanisms such as violence or self harm. Shattered bonds brings awareness to this through the plot. Throughout the film, there are scenes showing one of the teenage girls being left out of the group and feeling a sense of hurt in the fact that nobody is including her in their conversation or activities. These feelings of hurt then revolve into resentment in the film as they do in the real world. These feelings can lead to violence against others as well as self harm. In the film, the girl being left out resorts to killing the girl t...

Short Film Research: The Last Note

Short film reasearch: ( The Last Note/Mystery) Hey blogg. Today we will be discussing an award-winning mystery short film called "The Last Note" and pointing out different features within this film. For some background, the film begins with David driving to lake while taking about leaving his wife and all his problems with her. Then David is seen with a body bag which is Catherine and dumps her in a lake. He does this due to catching ehr cheating on him the night before. Once David returns home, he starts drinking a liquor while reading a book named Murder. In the book, there was a note from Catherine and as he reads to there are flashbacks to her putting posion in the bottle. He then relazies as she write “sorry I had to do this , goodbye David” and he passes away. To begin the sound purely consisted of voice-overs from both Catherine and David, the former husbands and wife, along with sound effects. In specific, dramatic sound effects were used which is very common with...

A Comparison of 12 Monkeys & La Jetée

Heyyy blog welcome back. Prior to researching these two films I didn't realize how similar the two storylines were. I was distracted by the use of still images compared to video sequences to notice the plot. After watching “La Jetee vs 12 Monkeys… which is better?” I see that both films explore the idea of time travel and the consequences for your actions. La Jetee does this through the use of images to tell this provoking story. When creating our own short film we are able to take these to films and use them as inspiration. We want to incorporate more complex ideas that leave the audience thinking. I think our goal of our short film is to really throw the audience off track almost like a plot twist. We could maybe even incorporate the idea of a natural disaster just like La Jetee and 12 Monkeys. After watching the two films we also took the video style into consideration for our film. The La Jetee images are black and white so the film has an older, more dark feeling to it. For th...
