My Pitch Blog

Welcome back!! Me and my group are going to be discussing what we want our pitch to be for this.

Pitch one: Two lifelong best friends take a turn for the worst when one’s jealousy takes over.

Pitch two: Two girls are in love but they face the challenge of homophobic parents.

To describe the first pitch, There's a new trio in small town Bridgewater consisting of Kendall, Ellie and Olivia. Kendall and Ellie have always been inseparable. That was until Olivia came along to “steal” Ellies attention. Kendall let her jealousy get the best of her and one day Olivia disappears…there is always a duo in a trio.

The second pitch is, Two best friends Eliza and Jacky fall in love but without the approval of their homophobic parents they decide to run away. They face many challenges on their trip, this includes crazy police chases, heartbreak and self sabotage.

Pitch two was a good idea but we found it to be more difficult to execute. We believe we will be able to execute pitch one in a more realistic and creative way. Pitch one was more preferred by all members in the group and we believe it will be something relatable to make. On top of that last year a few of the group members chose to talk about homophobic conventions so we wanted to switch it up and do something different this year, this will help us branch out and experiment on a different media level. So ultimately we decided to go with Pitch one, Two lifelong best friends take a turn for the worst when one’s jealousy takes over.

Short Film Research: The Last Note

Short film reasearch: ( The Last Note/Mystery) Hey blogg. Today we will be discussing an award-winning mystery short film called "The Last Note" and pointing out different features within this film. For some background, the film begins with David driving to lake while taking about leaving his wife and all his problems with her. Then David is seen with a body bag which is Catherine and dumps her in a lake. He does this due to catching ehr cheating on him the night before. Once David returns home, he starts drinking a liquor while reading a book named Murder. In the book, there was a note from Catherine and as he reads to there are flashbacks to her putting posion in the bottle. He then relazies as she write “sorry I had to do this , goodbye David” and he passes away. To begin the sound purely consisted of voice-overs from both Catherine and David, the former husbands and wife, along with sound effects. In specific, dramatic sound effects were used which is very common with...

My Critical Reflection

Critical Reflection Link Critical Reflection A level Media Studies How do your products represent social groups or issues? My short film, Shattered Bonds, represents the major issue of mental health struggles that follow being left out in relationships and friendships, that so many people suffer from in the real world. The film highlights the idea that when you feel a sense of hurt in a relationship/friendship it can cause a mental trigger for coping mechanisms such as violence or self harm. Shattered bonds brings awareness to this through the plot. Throughout the film, there are scenes showing one of the teenage girls being left out of the group and feeling a sense of hurt in the fact that nobody is including her in their conversation or activities. These feelings of hurt then revolve into resentment in the film as they do in the real world. These feelings can lead to violence against others as well as self harm. In the film, the girl being left out resorts to killing the girl t...

Short Film Research: Party to Murder

The mystery short film I watched was Party to Murder by Strobie Studios. The actors gathered together at this old style mansion to play a game of murder mystery while at a masked party. Will they play a harmless game or is the reality of death knocking on their front door? The director included a plot twist which is what ultimately made the short film a good watch. At the beginning of the film the director used upbeat music and close up angles of a couple dressed in fancy attire. The upbeat music explained the mood of the couple, as they were laughing and excited for their upcoming party. However as the car approached the home the music took a turn for the dark. The music began to speed up and the musical notes selection became very ominous. A big tactic used in mysteries especially murder mysteries in plot twists. Plot twists leave the audience highly surprised making it the best way to recapture a viewer's attention. Nobody wants to sit through a movie where every scene is easi...
